Date: 2010-09-09 10:54 am (UTC)Oh, bless you! I'm delighted you enjoyed it so much! I do enjoy making podfics. Um. I am a mass of inarticulate flailing about your compliments, though. Um. Crikey. Chuffed to bits that you're enjoying my reading/performance!

Date: 2010-09-09 12:12 pm (UTC)I'm so happy you picked this fic. I loved reading it even though, or possibly because, it walks so close to the line of sociopath!Sherlock that it crosses into uncomfortable. Your reading somehow manages to take that away a little bit - it's still there, but your Sherlock voice makes him so human that his desperation shines brighter than, well, the danger.
I simply love your Sherlock voice, everything about it. When he's quiet, thinking, when you make him expressive, when he's annoyed with the world; when he's freaking out on the inside, the way you have him speak to John.
Thank you. I'm very glad you're reading so much in this fandom!

But it's all good. Thank you! I'm delighted you enjoyed it!

Date: 2010-09-11 01:57 am (UTC)(...although I cannot help wondering what it would be like with Tom Hollander. I have a sneaky &hearts for the idea of 'Sherlock' with Tom Hollander in Martin's role, much as I enjoy Martin in this & other performances. Because I just love the crap out of Tom Hollander, and I think he'd be brilliant, and, let us be brutally honest - I fancy him to death. But Freeman is probably a better choice for Bilbo, both physically and type-for-type. Even if I suspect that Hollander might have been more awesome as Watson - he's got terrific range, and I think he may be a better actor than Freeman.)

Date: 2010-09-11 01:51 am (UTC)I know what you mean - I don't feel particularly sanguine about John's safety at all. The bit where Sherlock notes that John's mouth reminds him of the cat's mouth (knowing what had happened to the cat) had me all OMGWTFBBQ RUN, JOHN! RUN!!!
...but, eh, much as I enjoy 'Dexter', I still find myself enjoying baffled, angry, alien, dangerous, not-right-at-all Sherlock. From a safe distance. And it seems that he's what John wants, so...
But, yes. I don't think I could characterise this as in any way a healthy relationship.
::sighs::
Fascinating, though!

Date: 2010-09-16 11:06 pm (UTC)Oh, BLESS you! What a lovely lovely comment to wake up to. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it - it's a terrific story (if quite a frightening one - really, I don't feel sanguine about John's future, thinking about what happened to the cat).
It's a singular delight, being able to share performances of texts through this medium - obviously I am never going to get to play Sherlock (or Snape, or Dean Winchester, or Lex Luthor, or Jeeves and Wooster) on stage, but it's lovely to be able to inhabit their roles this way, for a space, and share it with other people across the world as they're battling with a paper-slicer or drifting off to sleep or commuting to work. Thank you so much for taking the time to write! I know it's a bit of a hassle with podfic, but I do appreciate it very much indeed.

Date: 2012-03-29 06:34 am (UTC)"I want to cut you open," Sherlock admits. "In fact I fully intend to."
God, you capture the power in his tone, the way he's sharing something so BIG and yet he's unapologetic about it. And then John, how he responds, how he BEGS. Just... beautifully done. Thank you for sharing this with us!
