Dean/Castiel: A Manifesto

PSA: The portmanteau term 'Destiel' makes Dean cry, and Castiel's wings moult. It is an abomination in the sight of ~~The Lord~~ me. Please, please, please eschew it. Thank you.

In the hate meme there seemed to be a fair bit of “Dean/Castiel! Ew!” going on. Which – yeah, okay, whatever, that happens. But it boggled me a bit that people seemed to find Dean/Castiel inexplicable, and more shocking and perverse than the Wincest*, which made me go o_O rather a lot, and apparently here I am setting out precisely why I found myself with an OTP for the first time since Season 1 of Smallville.

So – why does this pairing work for me? Why has it kickstarted me into writing, when 3 whole seasons of SPN didn't get me to jump aboard the Wincest train?( Read more... )
